VoiceOver interview of the week: Juliette Rahill

What was your first taster of voice over work?
In Spin 1038 for a night club when I was about 19.
What has been your favourite voice over job to date and why?
Last week actually.. It was first thing in the morning and it was freezing out! I got an email from an English company that needed an Irish voice for a Brown Thomas ad. They were really tight for time and didn’t have a studio for me to go to so I got to use my own home studio.. still in my pyjamas..with a cup of tea by the fire.. it was a relaxing read too so it was a great cosy morning of recording
Wouldn’t mind a few more of those gigs.
If you had to pick one style which you feel represents you best what would it be?
Bright and upbeat. It would be the most familiar style to me as I’ve completing so many Centra, supervalu, Happy Happy Land adverts
Have you been involved in anything interesting lately?
I just finished a recording for the phones at Killiney castle Hotel. I am the lady that tells you “your call is waiting”.. and then gives you some wonderful information on the hotel.. I am tempted to call next week and see if I get frustrated at my voice telling me to hold..
Any advice for aspiring voice overs?
Get a good demo!! Also Voice exercises are priceless!! Preserve your voice as much as possible.. it is your instrument and you don’t want anything to happen to it!!
Anything else you would like to let us know?
Piehole rock!! They are so incredibly helpful….
That’s me…over and out

Juliette’s advice is, of course, spot on.
