Voice over interview with the amazing Elaine Hearty

What was your first taster of voice over work?
My first ever voice over was for Aer Arann. I had done some studio work with singing before and had some practical experience through college, but had never actually recorded a radio ad. I was very nervous as you usually get the script just before you go in, so I hadn’t a clue what to expect! After the initial nerves, I really got into it! Once you record one, it becomes like second nature.
What has been your favourite voice over job to date and why?
My absolute favourite job has to be the cartoon series I just recorded. It’s called “Joe & Jack” and I played 2 parts, the part of the mum and the little boy. I also recorded the baby! I found that going to work was a joy. It was so much fun playing around with voices etc.
If you had to pick one style which you feel represents you best what would it be?
Upbeat!
Have you been involved in anything interesting lately?
I’m currently filming a horror called “The Exorcism Diaries”. Yes I’m terrified!
Any advice for aspiring voice overs?
The main thing is that you are happy with your demo. Make sure it shows your true potential and variety.
Anything else you would like to let us know?
I also run two stageschools with lots of talented kids too.
